SIST Holds "Scientific Activities Week"

The School of Information Science and Technology (SIST) held a one-week-long electronic scientific training activity from May 16th to 20th for those recommended students for admission this year. 29 students from all over the country took part in the activity, which was deliberately scheduled right after the scientific showcase of USTC so that the students may get a chance to acquire an overall knowledge of the University as well as the School. The activity, which was held by the Information Science Laboratory Center under the suggestion of some warm-hearted students and staffs, aims at stimulating the students' interest in electronic and information science and technology by an initial touching of it.

 

 

On the evening of May 15th, Dr. Li Bin, Dean of the Lab Center, called on the students at the guest house on behalf of the School. He introduced the purpose and the schedule of the activity and encouraged the students to practice more, communicate more, and observe more so that they can get well prepared for the coming college life.

According to the knowledge reserve of high school students and combined with the aims of this training, staff of the Lab Center designed diversified projects with rich and abundant contents. The students showed great enthusiasm and fine hands-on ability. They completed all the projects excellently and expressed their willingness that they will continue to study and practice after they came back in order to produce more wonderful works.

 

 

On the evening of May 17th, Prof. Wu Gang from Dept. of Automation gave an academic report entitled "Promoting Industrialization with Informationization" by which he introduced to the students the role that electronic and information technology plays in the development of domestic economy, the historical mission that a professional in this business carries, and a representative case that Dept. of Automation is working on. His profound knowledge and humorous talking manner won warm applause from the audiences.

 

 

On the evening of May 18th, Prof. Jiang Yi, head of the Enrollment and Employment Dept., was invited to attend a discussion with the students. He made a brief introduction to the University from various aspects and inspired the students to achieve a wonder life and continue the glory of the University by their own efforts.
